PRODUCTION/MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Position Salary: $68K-$87K (Depending on experience)
SUMMARY
Research, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Performs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic or heat transfer systems.
- Works with production & maintenance personnel to fabricate (and install) test control apparatus and equipment and develop methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
- Designs process controls, develops operation & maintenance standards, and trains personnel to ensure products conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
- Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
- Communicates with Japan division regarding new project and collects necessary information.
- Makes plans of pre-preparation for new project.
- Coordinates machine installation with Japanese engineers.
- Evaluates installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Responsible for mechanical maintenance training and documentation of new equipment.
- Makes annual plan of continuous improvement and follow-up.
- Supervises the corrective actions for quality problems.
- May examine the feasibility and quotes for new business from Sales Department.
- Follows all safety regulations.
- Learn, understand TPS (Toyota Production System).
- Create spare part list and determine tool life for production tooling supplies.
- Ship reworked tools to suppliers.
- Schedule PM with equipment manufacturers and create/update PM check sheets for area of assigned.
- Any other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS Must possess good mechanical abilities and troubleshooting skills. Must possess good judgement, and communications skills. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Ability to maintain high quality standards. Knowledge of electrical & mechanical systems preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors/Technical degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Experience & willingness to work on both mechanical and electrical systems. Three (3) years experience in Japanese owned company preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Possess good interpersonal skills, including written and verbal. Prefer bilingual in English and Japanese, both speaking and writing.
